If you’re a foster carer or if you’re interested in fostering, then it’s important you get the information and support that you need.
At Apple Fostering, we always recommend that those who want advice about fostering should utilise the resources available to them.
One such resource is Fosterline – a free, government-funded helpline that gives foster carers and those interested in fostering confidential advice.
You may be thinking about fostering, and want to know more about how you can provide a safe and nurturing environment for a child or young person in your home.
Or perhaps you’re already fostering and need confidential, impartial advice and support on whatever issues may be affecting you.
Funded by the Department for Education, and brought to you by FosterTalk, Fosterline is a fantastic resource for anyone with an interest in fostering.

Fosterline offers help and advice on a range of issues affecting foster carers, and has a website containing information on everything you need to know about foster care.

Their advisors will answer your queries over the phone, via email or on the Fosterline Interactive Forum. They are available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
Thinking about fostering
Fosterline has a host of online resources for anyone who is thinking about fostering. They have information on things like what is fostering and who is eligible to foster, plus a handy mapping system to find fostering services in your area.
They also have a film, made in partnership with the BBC Outreach volunteer initiative, which shares the first-hand experiences of real foster carers who talk about the challenges and rewards of fostering.
Already fostering
Existing foster carers are offered useful information and support networks on the Fosterline website, which provide a range of resources to support foster carers in their role.

Their Help and Support Centre is aimed at experienced foster carers, as well as those who are new to it.

The Help and Support Centre, can help you with things such as queries about finance, training and supervision or even issues with managing relationships with your fostering service or dealing with complaints made against you.

Their team of expert advisors can help with any questions you may have, and are available to talk to you on the phone, via email, or on their online forum.

The forum also offers the opportunity for other foster carers to give their support and advice, alongside Fosterline’s advisors.

Fosterline say: “We do more than offer advice on your issues. Fosterline is committed to guiding you through resolving your issues, and helping you identify other resources and organisations who can offer the level of specialist advice you need.

“The service is completely confidential and no information about you will be shared with anyone else without your consent, unless of course, you tell us about a safeguarding issue, which we would be required by law to share.”
